“Wings on Wheels” with five 40-ton trucks to the Ukraine

Another LOG/WoH convoy to the Romanian boarder and beyond

In an initial assessment since the outbreak of war in Ukraine a month ago, Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen/Wings of Help (LOG/WoH) has now brought over 400 tons of aid to war refugees from Ukraine and into the country itself. The destination of the 15 lorries, each weighing 40 tons, is mainly the town of Sighetul Marmatiei on the Romanian-Ukrainian border. The Maramures region, which borders Ukraine, has already taken care of tens of thousands of war refugees. LOG/WoH works on site with the “German Forum”, the representation of the German minority in Romania, which records the needs of the refugees and carries out the targeted distribution of the relief supplies. The center also organizes the transport of goods to internally displaced persons in Ukraine itself. For example, the LOG/WoH convoy, consisting of five 40-ton trucks, to the nearby town of Mukachevo in Transcarpathia on Ukrainian territory, where around 220,000 refugees are currently staying. The association “German Youth and Transcarpathia” is involved on site. It takes care of the further transport of the aid in big cities up to the capital Kyiv. The trucks bring diapers, hygiene products, toilet paper, disinfectants, baby food, rusks and mineral water. The latest truck convoy was made possible, among other things, by donations from companies in the German aerospace industry under the slogan “Aviation moves.”
