Second war Christmas in Ukraine

Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen/Wings of Help organizes Christmas celebrations for children on the run on both sides of the Ukrainian-Romanian border

Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen/Wings of Help (LOG/WoH) e.V. has decided on a special humanitarian mission on both sides of the border between Ukraine and Romania: The aid organization based at Frankfurt Airport not only has trucks and vans full of warm clothing brought on the way, but also loaded with toys and other Christmas presents to bring joy to children in their difficult situation at Christmas time. The aid deliveries included over 1,000 stuffed teddy bears and plush toys for the children at two Christmas parties organized by LOG/WoH in Rakiv (Ukraine) and in Baia Mare (Romania). “It was the worst day of our lives,” says Tatjana from Kiev in the camp near the Romanian border, “when we had to flee our house a few days after the war broke out. My three children, my disabled husband and I simply fled aimlessly. We were able to take very little with us, but we also thought that the war would only last a few days. We had no winter clothes, shoes or other clothing. Now the second winter of war is beginning and our situation has hardly changed.” The family is all the more happy about warm clothing, hygiene products, drinking water and the presents for the children.

Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen/Wings of Help is hosting the two Christmas festivals for children on the run in Romania on December 12th in Rakiv (Western Ukraine) and two days later in Baia Mare (Romania). Since the outbreak of the war, Romania’s Baia Mare has increasingly developed into a hub for the distribution of aid to Ukrainian refugees. There, LOG/WoH cooperates locally with the “Rotary Club Baia Mare 2005”, which organizes the two Christmas parties in collaboration with LOG/WoH. The LOG/WoH delivery is the twelfth this year. A total of 2,500 tons of relief supplies were brought to people in Ukraine and to refugees along the border via this humanitarian bridge using 88 trailers and trucks.

PS: Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen/Wings of Help also packs gift bags for the children in Rakiv and Baia Mare. If you would like to take part in this campaign, you can transfer a donation of ten, 20 or 30 euros to our account (below). We pack the bags at the LOG/WoH headquarters for transport to the Christmas celebrations in Ukraine and Romania.
