Several truck transports with drinking water, baby food, hygiene articles and cleaning agent to the flood area on the German Ahr River
The relief bridge “Wings on Wheels – Help for flood victims”, built by the Frankfurt aid organization Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen / Wings of Help (LOG), delivered urgently needed aids to the people in the flood area on the Ahr River in a massive action. In a second mission, five truck semitrailers have just brought around 20,000 liters of mineral water from Hassia Mineralquellen, baby food in various forms, diapers and cleaning agents to the badly affected region around the city of Sinzig, supported by the Landgraf logistic company with two 40-ton trucks. They were accompanied by an additional LOG transporter with 420 five-liter canisters for the individual distribution of drinking water in the region. Still water was supplied to prepare the baby food. LOG arranged the transport of over 25,000 bottles of cleaning agents together with the Mainz based family company Werner & Mertz. Shortly beforehand, there was an extensive aid delivery from the WEPA plant in Mainz. WEPA Group produces hygiene products such as toilet paper and hand paper towels.
LOG President Frank Franke: “Our commitment under the motto Wings on Wheels has proven itself very well within hours. We are grateful for all the companies that spontaneously agreed to work with us to build this stable relief bridge to the flood victims directly from the scratch, in order to help the people who have lost everything. In coordination with the on-site disaster management teams, we are able to deliver exactly what is needed immediately in this severely damaged region – and we can be proud of this effective, joint relief effort.”
