Christmas Tour to Romania and Ukraine

LOG/WoH organizes three celebrations – Fundraising campaign initiates gifts for 1500 children

After around 20 truck convoys with a total of over 3000 tons of relief supplies, over 1500 children in Romania and Ukraine were able to enjoy gift packages from Germany: Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen/Wings of Help (LOG/WoH) was able to bring toys, stuffed animals and sweets to these border towns for three Christmas parties in Rakiv (Western Ukraine), Satu Mare and Baia Mare (both Carpathians/Romania). The Christmas gifts were triggered by a fundraising campaign in Germany; the campaign from Germany was actively supported by the Rotary Club 5 Baia Mare/Romania, LOG/WoH’s partner in aid deliveries, especially to western Ukraine, since the beginning of the war. The packages were intended for socially disadvantaged children in homes in the Carpathians, but also for children who have been hit hard by the war in Ukraine. Many are now homeless – or the war has destroyed their families. The Christmas packages were carefully put together at the LOG/WoH headquarters in Frankfurt/Main and brought by truck to the partner in Romania, who had prepared further gifts. From Romania, the LOG/WoH Santa Claus tour went to western Ukraine and the Carpathians (Romania).

President Frank Franke, who accompanied the transport together with Chief Operating Officer Felix Groh, said: “This Christmas campaign underlines the unchanged willingness to help, especially for Ukraine. Companies and private individuals want to support the people in this part of the world to the best of their ability, especially mothers and children. They all value LOG/WoH as a reliable contact point for humanitarian missions. LOG/WoH was able – like hardly any other institution – to set up an important hub in Romania for aid deliveries to the war zone itself and to camps along the border, through which targeted aid is guaranteed in the region. Especially during the Christmas season.”
